Yukari Royale series pens utilize a cartridge-converter filling system - pens can be filled with any bottled fountain pen ink by using the provided converter, or can use Pilot-Namiki brand cartridges.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUtilizing the Chinkin technique, the artist carves the ultra-fine pattern of the cat and reeds with a sharp instrument.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGold powder is then inlaid to fill in the carvings, and Urushi lacquer is used to coat the masterpiece. This is an extremely time-intensive process, as the skilled Maki-e artist must use care when carving the fine, narrow lines of the design.
